Lismore News 6-6-18

Joyce Erdman attended the Memorial Day program in Lismore along with her daughters, Peggy Meyer of Rushmore and Pam and Mark Luettel of Adrian and their grandchildren Ian, Aiden and Ava Meyeraan of Luverne.  Following the program, they visited the gravesite of husband, father and great-grandfather, Earl Erdman, at the St. Anthony Cemetery as the American Legion and The Sons of the Legion honored the veterans. After the cemetery they all enjoyed noon lunch at Joyce’s home.  Joining them for lunch were Bruce and Lindsay Meyeraan of Luverne.  They visited the cemeteries in Woodstock and Pipestone before ending the day with pizza at Dar’s Pizza in Pipestone.

Services were held on Saturday, June 2nd at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary for Robert Munns who passed away December 30, 2017. Bob and Dorothy (Knips) Munns were married for 70 years and raised five children together.  Bob served in the US Navy and worked in the grain elevator business throughout southern Minnesota. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy and children – Diane, Judy, Loren, Barbara and Marcia. Nieces and nephews that attended the services were: Debby & Frank Wieneke, Dave Lutmer, Jeff Lutmer, Patty & Mike Buysse, Dean Knips, and Jim & Kathy Knips all of Lismore; Gary Lutmer of St. James; Gail & Jim Rust of Magnolia; LuAnne & Rick Parker of Slayton; Cyan Loonan of Massachusetts and Apryl Schrivner of Oregon. Interment will take place at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Brenda Loosbrock returned home on Sunday from a two-week “road trip” which included her yearly checkup at the Craig Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Her daughter Shelley accompanied her.  All of Brenda’s reports were favorable.  Brenda’s sister, Veronica Masselink of Sioux Falls joined them in Denver and the three gals traveled on to Sun City West, AZ to visit their mother and grandmother, Lucille Woodruff. They returned home Sunday— exhausted, but with lots of fun memories.

Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Bernard #886 will serve their annual salad and hot dish luncheon on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore. Serving begins at 11:30 a.m until 1:00 p.m.  All men and women are invited to attend.

Congratulations to Herman and Eileen Wieneke (formerly of rural Lismore) on their 50th wedding anniversary on June 8th.  The family has requested a card shower to help them celebrate.  Their address is:  504 S. Maple, Ellsworth, MN 56129.

Joyce Erdman of Lismore and her daughter, Pam and Mark Luettel of Adrian attended the 50th Wedding Anniversary party for Bob and Orene Meyeraan in Fulda on Saturday. Following the party, they drove to Mankato for Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and had supper at the home of Jennifer Luettel.   It was a busy Sunday for Joyce, as she, Pam & Mark Luettel, and Jennifer Luettel went to Faribault to help Leo Luettel celebrate his first birthday.  Corey & Tara Luettel, and Leo’s siblings, Ainsley & Oliver, hosted the party in their home. Other guests included Leo’s maternal grandparents, Larry & Sharon Balster of Adrian, Uncle Jeremy Balster of Adrian, Uncle Jordon & Brandi Balster, cousins Tenley & Amara of Steen MN;  Auntie Jana & Kenny Willers and Breckly of Worthington; and Uncle Jaden Balster of Rapid City, SD. After a delicious noon dinner, little Leo opened his presents and everyone enjoyed birthday cake and ice cream. It was a great day for the Luettel and Balster families

Randy Lenz completed his stem cell transplant on June 1st ! He is now reporting daily for blood work and vitals checks at Mayo in Rochester.  Prayers for healing and a complete recovery, Randy!

Deb Lutmer and her sister, Carol Giroux of Wheaton spent a couple days in the home of their brother, Donald & Terrie Dew in Surrey, ND.  They also visited with their nephew Jeremy & Renee Rhoads in Minot, ND before returning home on Sunday evening.

Alexia Kemper, daughter of Chris & Mindy and Mitchell Veld, son of Troy & Cindy qualified for the MN State Golf Tournament to be held at the Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker next week.  This will be the second trip to the state tournament for each of these golfers.  Good luck to Mitchell and Alexia.

Christina Loonan will be the guest of honor at a come & go bridal shower on Saturday, June 16th from 10:00-12 noon at the Lismore Legion.  She is the bride-to-be of Travis Grindeland.  The couple is registered at Adrian Hardware, Target, and Lee’s Locker.  Christina is the daughter of Bill & Raevette Loonan.
