Pitching elevates Dragons to win

The Dragons rode the arm of Alex Loosbrock to get back in the win column last Thursday in Slayton.  Alex pitched a complete game shutout to earn the victory.

The Dragons got a hit in the first inning from Nate Lonneman, but were unable to take advantege as they struck out three times in the inning.  Alex Loosbrock got MCC in order on two strikeouts and a fly ball in the bottom half of the first.

Mitchell Wagner led off the second with a line drive single.  He advanced to second on a wild pitch that the catcher could not find.  Wagner tried to reach third on the miscue, but was thrown out on a close play by the pitcher who had picked up the ball.  Landon Rogers then singled and stole second base.  Rogers was driven home by a Skylar Polzine single.  The run would prove to be the only run of the game.

The Dragons threatened to score in the third inning.  Lonneman again singled.  Nick Harder reached on an error and stole second base, putting runners on second and third with two outs.  Adrian was unable to capitalize as the next batter went down looking.

The Dragons would not really threaten again until the seventh inning.  Zack Loosbrock led off with a double.  The next batter popped up to center.  Wagner hit a line drive that was caught by the center fielder.  The MCC pitcher finished off the inning with a ground out.

The one run proved to be enough as Alex Loosbrock dominated the game from the mound.  He only allowed one hit, did not walk anyone, and struck out 11 Rebel hitters.

The Dragons were able to pick up eight hits on the afternoon, two of which came from Lonneman.  Polzine had a hit and the only RBI of the game. Rogers scored the only run and had a hit.  Zack Loosbrock had a double.  Wagner, Jake Stamer, and Alex Loosbrock had the other hits for Adrian.

The Dragons are now 9-4 (7-2conference).
