The Public meeting for the “World’s Best Work Force” was held at 5:30 PM on Monday, November 19, 2018 in the Adrian High School Media Center.  Principals Koehne and Lofthus presented information by reviewing the Districts goals, test and progress results and goal status for school year 2017-2018.

November 19, 2018

Board Chair Lenz called the regular meeting of the Adrian Board of Education to order at 6:00 P.M. on November 19, 2018.  Members present: Bullerman, Kunkel, Kruger, Lenz, Madison and Wolf.  Also present were Superintendent Graff, Principals Koehne and Lofthus, staff members K Diekmann, J Pater, J Wange and M Cook. Guests Mike Hubbard, Nancy Landeros and David Friedrichsen.

Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Wolf to add item F – Election Follow-up and item G – Board Appointee to the Superintendent’s Report and to approve the agenda, motion carried.

Mike Hubbard with ISC Consulting, Inc. presented a facilities assessment of the District’s buildings in correlation with the Long Term Facilities Maintenance of the District.

Nancy Landeros presented the Nobles County Integration Collaborative World’s Best Work Force report.  Motion by Wolf, seconded by Kunkel to accept the report, motion carried.

David Freidrichsen with Muelebroeck, Taubert & Co, PLLP presented and reviewed the June 30, 2018 year-end audit.  Motion by Wolf, seconded by Kunkel to accept the audit, motion carried.

Motion by Kruger, seconded Madison to approve the minutes from the October 15th and November 9th meetings, motion carried.

Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Kunkel to approve the claims and accounts for October motion carried.

The October  2018 reports were reviewed.  Motion by Madison, seconded by Kruger to approve the account balances for October 2018, motion carried.

Mr. Lofthus presented his Elementary Principal’s report:

Presented donations from the Blue & Gold PTO and an anonymous donor in the amount of $400 for Breakout Kits for the Elementary.  Motion by Wolf, seconded by Kunkel to accept donations, motion carried.

Mr. Wange presented his Activity Director’s report:

Gave a winter sports participation numbers update.

Mrs. Koehne presented the MS/HS Principal’s report

Summarized the World’s Best Workforce presentation.  Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Wolf to approve report, motion carried.

Discuss meal stipends and reimbursements for staff.

Discussed a shared or common in-service day with other districts with a possible day of November 1, with board giving consent to proceed

Mr. Graff presented his Superintendent’s report:

Presented a building and grounds report.  Introducing the new Head Custodian.

The boiler at the Elementary went down.

Presented a request to hire J Hornstein as a Class C1 Boiler consultant.  The District does not have a custodian with this licensure.  Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Madison to approve hire, motion carried.

Requested to hire D Honerman and D Hector as part time custodians at the Elementary while an individual is out on medical leave.  Motion by Wolf, seconded by Kunkel to approve hiring, motion carried.

Presented the Resolution Establishing Combined Polling Places.  Motion by Wolf, seconded by  Kunkel to establish one polling place of the Adrian Government Center at 209 Maine Ave, Adrian Minnesota.  Upon a roll call vote.  Motion carried 5-1 in favor of a single polling location.

Discussed a Conditional Use Agreement for the High School Parking Lot with Zion Lutheran Church.  Board would like not to charge for usage but to have the District listed as an Additional Insured on the Church’s Insurance Policy.

Presented donations from the Blue and Gold PTO in the amount of $1,000 each to be granted towards the Elementary and the Middle/High School PBIS Programs.  Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Kruger to accept donations, motion carried.

Presented donation from the Class of 2018 in the amount of $250 to be donated towards the Yearbook fund.  Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Madison to accept donation, motion carried.

Presented donation from Heartland Mutual Insurance in the amount of $500 to be used for the repair of the fitness center treadmill.  Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Wolf to accept donation, motion carried.

Discussed the Hockey paring agreement with ISD 2184 – Luverne.  Motion by Kunkel seconded by Kruger to accept the new pairing agreement with Luverne and to have the families involved in hockey responsible for the costs of the program, motion carried.

Presented follow-up information regarding the recent Referendum Election.

Discussed filling the vacated board position.  Recommended to have those interested to submit a letter of interest.

Motion by Wolf, seconded by Bullerman to adjourn the November meeting of the Adrian Board of Education at 8:09 P.M., motion carried.
