Cooler evenings are coming along with the cooler days. Autumn is here. This past weekend was great duck hunting with plenty of birds around. I would say it was easily superior to the last six seasons and gives some hope to the future of waterfowl. It was enjoyable. The first hour we saw more ducks than we saw in a week last year. Our hopes for a better season was at an all time low and almost gave up the sport. Of course, we still couldn’t hit anything. The mosquitoes had a great time also.

Farmers markets are in full swing right now with abundant offerings from local growers plus treats from local kitchens. Jams, pies, buns and breads are available along with used car parts and new TVs. Okay, just kidding about the car parts and TVs.

There is a sudden rush on this week’s issue of the paper you are reading. A motor on one of the printing presses died Monday night leaving a problem with Tuesday’s press run. If you are reading this at your normal time, life was kind to us. It well could be a day late. This hasn’t happened for quite a few years. The process will limp forward this week and should be back to normal next week.

I started cleaning the garage this week and I found a car in it. Pulling it out left room to spare and I should be able to fill it in a year or two.
