Jottings by Jerry – Jan 4

We have put another year behind us and greeted a new one with practiced ease. January two thousand seventeen is upon us and we are ready. The days are slowly getting longer, adding a few minutes each and every day. It will all look better in eight short weeks. It’s a cold week with no relief until Sunday when we’re back in the twenties.

My best time in the cold winter is sitting in my recliner staring into the fireplace. The steady warmth makes the winter much shorter. There is also the TV, full bookshelves, the internet and a dog at my feet. I need to give credit to a wonderful wife who makes it all possible. The companionship of the dog has that unquestioned loyalty that binds man, dog and fire.

The year is new and the time is now to make the best of it.

A bank robber pulls out a gun, points it at the teller, and says, “Give me all the money or you’re geography!”

The puzzled teller replies, “Did you mean to say ‘or you’re history?’”

The robber says, “Don’t change the subject!”

A company owner was asked a question, “How do you motivate your employees to be so punctual?”

He smiled & replied, “It’s simple. I have 30 employees and 29 free parking spaces. One is paid parking.”
