Track and Field: Dragons have successful Pipestone Invite

Spring finally made an appearance as the Dragons traveled to Pipestone for the Pipestone Invitational. It was a sunny, 60 degree day which is perfect for track and field and many athletes had season best efforts. The top finisher for the Dragons was Scot Edwards who won the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, 7 inches, winning by nearly a foot. Junior Tucker Wieneke also cracked the top ten in the shot put in 9th place of the 27 throwers. Dakota John continued to improve in triple jump, placing 6th with a jump of 36 feet, 5 inches. On the girl’s side, sophomore Kendra Frodermann soared into 3rd place in the high jump with a jump of 4 feet, 8 inches in her first high jump performance of the year.

The top finisher on the track was newcomer Ryan Wieneke. The senior placed second overall in the open 400 meter dash. Wieneke clocked a time of 54.74. The 800 meter run also had a top ten finish for the Dragons. Junior Christian Weidert ran a 2:28 for his first career 800 meter race and placed 10th overall. The Dragon boy’s 4×100 meter relay team placed 4th with a season best time of 49.15 and 3rd in the 4×400 meter relay in 3:53. The members of both of those teams were D. John, R. Wieneke, Chance Turner, and Brendyn White.

The girls also had impressive performances on the track. Sophomore Moriah Bullerman had a 4th place finish in the 800 running 2:39 and placed 5th in the 1600 meter run in 6:02, both improvements from the previous meet. The girls had 4×100 and 4×200 meter teams placing 5th otherall in times of 56.61 and 1:58.52. The members of those two relays were Hannah Henning, Hali Bullerman, Bailey Lonneman, and Kendra Frodermann. The 4×400 meter relay for the girls placed 4th, running a time of 4:41. The members of this team were M. Bullerman, H. Bullerman, Henning, and Frodermann.

Solid performances were had by many athletes for the Dragons. Great work to all of the athletes who participated for Adrian!
