Adrian Defeats Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s in Section Semi’s

Offensive line leads the way

The Adrian Dragons used a punishing ground attack fueled by their offensive line to defeat the Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s Knights by a score of 20 to 0.  The offensive line of Mitchell Wagner, Lance Luettel, Zack Loosbrock, Skylar Polzine, Kasey Madtson, Skylar Dingmann, Mitchell Lonneman, and Zach Bierman were key in the win.   The shut out was led by a defensive anchor, Dylan Gyberg, who led Adrian with 10 tackles and a fumble recovery.  Landon Rogers also led the way defensively, with 9 tackles.  Zach Hendel had a big interception for Adrian.

Adrian won the toss and deferred to the 2nd half.  The Dragons kicked off and SESM’s took over on the 27 yard line.  The Knights used 6 plays and moved the ball to the 41 yard line where they were forced to punt into the wind.  Their punt only traveled 16 yards and Adrian took over on their 44 yard line.

Nick Harder’s 25 yard run got things going for Adrian, moving the ball down to the 32 yard line of the Knights.  Ryan Wieneke hit Alex Loosbrock for an 18 yard gain to the 14 yard line.  Then Frank Serrao capped off the 7 play drive with a 9 yard touchdown run.  The PAT run failed and Adrian led 6 to 0 at the 5:37 mark of the 1st quarter.

Adrian’s Landon Rogers kicked off and boomed one deep, forcing the Knights to take over on the 13 yard line.  The Knights went 3 plays and out and again punted into the wind where Adrian took over on the Knights 37 yard line.

Dylan Gyberg broke free on the 1st play of the drive for 29 yards down to the 7 yard line.  Nick Harder’s run of 6 yards on 3rd down got Adrian to the one yard line.  Then Ryan Wieneke got the last yard for the touchdown.  The PAT pass failed and Adrian led 12 to 0 at the 1:31 mark of the 1st quarter.
