Adrian Moves to 2 & 0 with Come from Behind Victory

The Adrian Dragons hosted the Lakeview Lakers last Friday evening and the Dragons had to battle from a 21 to 7, 2nd half deficit, to pull this one out.  Adrian scored 22 unanswered points in the 2nd half with the final TD coming at the 1:49 mark of the 4th quarter with the Dragons posting a 29 to 21 final.

    Adrian won the toss and deferred to the 2nd half.  Adrian kicked off and the defense for Adrian held Lakeview to 3 plays and out.  Lakeview punted and Adrian took over on the 49 yard line.  Adrian gained 4 yards in 3 plays and were forced to punt the ball back to Lakeview.  Darrien Wallin for Lakeview returned the punt 16 yards.  Lakeview moved the ball down to the Dragon 24 yard line, but was stopped on downs.

    Adrian’s next possession again stalled, gaining only 9 yards in 3 plays and were forced to punt again.  Lakeview used 9 plays to travel 80 yards with Jake Werner capping off the drive with a 2 yard run.  Darrien Wallin kicked the PAT and the Lakeview Lakers led 7 to 0.

    Adrian took the ensuing kickoff and started o the 34 yard line after a 25 yard kickoff return by Frank Serrao.  Adrian used 3 plays and again Ryan Wieneke had to punt the ball back to the Lakers.

    The Lakers took over on the 20 yard line and in 3 plays lost 5 yards to the 15 and punted the ball back to Adrian and the Dragons took over on the 43 yard line.  Adrian used 11 plays to travel the 57 yards with Frank Serrao capping off the drive with a 3 yard run.  The PAT kick by Dominiq Canales was good and the game at the 3:47 mark of the 2nd quarter stood at 7 apiece.  Nick Harder was the work horse in the drive, gaining 22 yards in 3 runs to lead Adrian in their 1st scoring drive.

    After a Landon Rogers kickoff and a 26 yard return by Jake Werner the Lakers took over on their 43 yard line.  The Lakers used 8 players to go 57 yards with Seth Plotz scoring from 5 yards outs. Big play in the drive was a play on 4th down and 10 when quarterback Isaac Loe hit Darrien Wallin for a 38 yard gain.  The PAT kick was good at the :26 mark of the 2nd quarter and Lakeview led 14 to 7.
