Our yearly fishing gathering for the express purpose of fishing, although there is much socializing, was held last weekend. There were four couples this year at Landcaster, Wisconsin hosted by the Hopkins family. A real back problem kept me from wading up streams in pursuit of trout. While the others flayed the water with their best fly, I read and napped the day away but was always ready to judge who had the best tall tale of the their personal battle with the fresh water creature (extra points if they could show proof) that could win them the usual traveling trophy. The women would make a trip around the area for bargains. The weather was cool with the threat of freezing the same as here. We had pulled most things inside before we left on Friday. The few plants that we left out were not damaged but we were in town, not all the field crops went untouched.

I did get my onions and most of the potatoes in the ground before that last big round of rains. With some luck I will get the rest in soon, row by row. Hopefully, the weather will gradually increase in temperature to something close to normal.

So I’m heading up to my parents house driving like 90 mph when a lady cop pulls me over, comes up to my car and she’s like…

“Young man, speeding? I’ve been waiting for you all day.”

I look up to her and I say, “I’m so sorry I’m late officer, I got here as fast as I could…”

We should always be suspicious of any stranger that approaches us like a friendly puppy.

Have a good week!
